February 5 – Woosong
University Kazakhstan welcomed a distinguished delegation from Woosong
University (Daejeon, Korea), led by Dr. William Yongwoo Kim, Ph.D., Head
Professor of the Global Railway Department, accompanied by students from the
department.
During the visit, the
delegation introduced the Global Railway Department, presenting its curriculum,
vision, and educational objectives. They also shared detailed information about
the Woosong DEJET Railroad Academy, highlighting its role in developing railway
expertise and fostering industry-ready professionals.
A key part of the
presentation focused on KOICA-supported initiatives, which aim to cultivate
global leaders capable of planning and managing international railway
infrastructure projects. The speakers emphasized Korea’s successful railway
development experience, including high-speed rail systems such as KTX and
advanced urban transit networks, as valuable models for international
cooperation and knowledge sharing.
The delegation also discussed the practical impact of
railway education in Central Asia, including specialized training programs
conducted by Woosong University for railway officials in Kyrgyzstan and
Tajikistan. These programs contribute to strengthening regional railway
capacity and promoting international collaboration.
As a gesture of
goodwill, the guests prepared special gifts for students of Woosong University
Kazakhstan, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. The visit concluded with
an open discussion session, where professors and students exchanged ideas and
explored opportunities for future collaboration, academic partnerships, and
professional cooperation in the railway sector.
