Grand Opening 2025: Woosong University Kazakhstan Has Officially Opened



On September 25, 2025, in the city of Turkistan, the international branch of one of South Korea’s leading higher education institutions, Woosong University, officially commenced operations under the name Woosong University Kazakhstan. The ceremonial opening marked a significant milestone in strengthening strategic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea in the fields of education, science, and innovation. 

Grand Opening Ceremony

The Grand Opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Koshebayev, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Kazakhstan Cho Tae-Ik, as well as the Akim of Turkistan Region Nuralklhan Kosherov.

As part of the official ceremony, the distinguished guests solemnly cut the red ribbon in front of the university campus, symbolizing the official opening of Woosong University Kazakhstan. This event reflected the Government of Kazakhstan’s policy of attracting leading international universities and positioning the country as a regional education hub.
